About this course

This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to conduct telescopic materials handler operations in the Resources and Infrastructure and Industries, Civil Infrastructure and is appropriate for those working in operational roles. Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors.

Training requirements

The following are required to commence enrolment:

•  Photo identification
•  USI number (Click here to obtain a USI number)
•  Be able to read and write in plain English

The following is required on the day of training and assessment:

• Steel capped/composite boots
• Long-sleeved, high visibility shirt (high visibility vests available for loan)
• Long pants
• Hard hat (some are available for loan)

Momentum High Risk Training will provide all training materials and stationery.

• You’re welcome to bring your own lunch as fridges and crib rooms are available for use; or
• Various lunch options are available close by at the Mackay Harbour

Inexperienced workers

Where the student is an inexperienced worker, they may require a longer timeframe to fully absorb the knowledge and practice the skills before being assessed. In this case, our trainer/assessor will recommend for the student to complete further training at their work site, under the mentorship of a supervisor, with training activities recorded in a logbook. After completing the nominal hours logbook training, and gaining the relevant knowledge and skills, the student will then return to MHRT once ready to be assessed.

Course outcomes

You will receive a Statement of Attainment in RIIHAN309F Conduct Telescopic materials handling operations issued from Halo Nation Training (RTO No. 32485) once you have been deemed competent.
